Chelsea Clinton Comment May Cost MSNBC Debate
A comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor may nix Hillary Rodham Clinton’s participation in debates on the network.
MSNBC’s David Shuster suggested the Clintons have “pimped out” Chelsea, 27, by having her place phone calls to celebrities and Democratic Party “superdelegates” on her mother’s behalf.
Chelsea, who was kept out of the limelight for years by her famous parents, has been a campaign mainstay in Hillary’s White House bid.
Clinton communications director David Wolfson called David Shuster’s comment “beneath contempt” and disgusting.
“I, at this point, can’t envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network,” he added.
Shuster, who apologized on the air for his Chelsea Clinton comment, has been suspended from appearing on all NBC news broadcasts.
Chelsea Clinton has been active in mom Hillary’s campaign.
Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled to participate in an MSNBC debate February 26 from Ohio, which holds its primary March 4.
Trailing Obama in fundraising, Clinton campaign has pushed hard for as many debates as possible, but February 26 is now uncertain.
Bill Burton, a spokesman for Barack Obama, called Shuster’s comments “deplorable” and said they had no place in the political process.
Unlike delegates pledged to candidates based on primary and caucus results, superdelegates are elected officials and other members of the Democratic National Committee who vote at the party’s convention.
In a process that seems remarkably undemocratic, they may play a key role in selecting the Democratic nominee if the delegate contest between Clinton and Barack Obama remains this close.

I for one think the entire comment thing is great…The truth hurts sometimes and frankly having either Clinton or Obama as President of the United States…is totally STUPID…you all can sit and complain about who said what or who did this or that…You think the USA is in bad shape now…just wait and see what happens if either of these people win…then you will sit and complain and complain some more because the USA is falling apart…We need someone who will actually turn things around…ok I thought a woman president would be cool, but another Clinton? OMG NO WAY…If you vote for either person, then you will NO rights to complain..

Hillary Clinton is using the Pimp comment politically and as a mother. Clinton voted to send our G.I.’s to Iraq in support Bush’s War…did Hillary Clinton think about the Killed and Wounded in Action G.I.’s Mother’s?. Hillary Clinton is using her Daughter to gain Politically.

This is crazy…What are they taking offense to the term “pimped”? So what, that’s what they were doing by engaging thier daughter. Then to say “she’s and we are off limits” is pure hypocracy. If you don’t want people to comment on what she is doing don’t “use” her in the process. It seems the Clinton’s are just bullying everyone including the press and free speach.
What were we talkng about I forgot…oh yeah, certainly not anything worth suspending a reporter for. How insane! She’s 27 for christ sakes and she is being pimpmed. Where is the foul here?

Absolutely David Shuster’s remark was inappropriate and unacceptable. Under no circumstance this remark should be ignored. What is the difference between his comment and that of Imus? As a 22 year old, I’m tired of watching middle age caucasian men like Imus and now Shuster trying to be “hip”. As a fellow blogger so eloquently wrote:”Come on people. MSNBC reporters using street “vernacular” is just plain wack! That mofo should check himself. Do we want our news to sound “ghetto”? I don’t understand why we would let reporters use street language at all. Did they use “jive” talk on the news in the 1970’s? No. So stop saying its just more PC ****, because it really isn’t. Talking street isn’t professional sounding. It has nothing to do with being Politically Correct. Keep street talk on MTV and out of my MSNBC news! BTW, David Shuster is a moron. Anyone listening to him needs to come correct.”

Chelsea is a young woman and does not need to be defended by her “mommy”.The truth is what Shuster said was inappropriate but Mrs. Clinton needs to chill and realize that the word is a slang word and has two different meanings. If they are as black as they say they are they would know this.
