Keith Olbermann: Pulling Strings For Katy Tur?
This morning, the New York Post reported that Keith Olbermann’s 24-year-old girlfriend Katy Tur had just landed a news-anchor job on CW11.
This despite minimal journalism qualifications, which is putting it mildly.
How did Katy Tur the daughter of legendary Los Angeles helicopter reporter Bob Tur land such a lofty job at such a tender age?
The Post reported that Katy Tur had gotten the position “allegedly with [Keith Olbermann's] help.”
But as it turns out, Katy Tur hasn’t landed a news anchor job at all.
The New York Observer caught up with a CW11 spokesperson Jessica Bellucci this morning. According to Bellucci, Tur joined the station several weeks ago as a “freelance reporter,” working on general assignment.
“She got the job on her own merit,” said Bellucci.

Keith makes statements like they are facts and then proceeds to pontificate on them. He lacks any depth of reasoning much more than depth perception in his eye. He should be taken off the air. The one who follows him, Maddow is just a clone of his style and suffers from the same shortcomings. It is a sad day when O’Reilly is more balanced than any of the three MSNBC commentators. Makes me want to leave the Democratic Party. Where are the fair and balanced commentators who just report the news and don’t try to jam their opinions down our throats?

Sorry Mike, but if you actually watch Olbermann, you see that he does back everything he says with facts. He give dates, times locations, etc. when he rebuts or exposes the phonies on the right. That’s what separates him from the others who insist they are right because they said so. Do you even understand “depth of reasoning” as you put it? His arguments are usually very well thought out and far more reasonable than anyone on the right or on FOX. Same for R. Maddow. Sorry the words they use are too complicated for you to understand. Maybe you should keep watching Bill-O. He never let the facts get in the way of his arguments.

I can’t watch him anymore… that is if I want to hear about “REAL” stuff that is going on in this country. Why is one of the last to ever report on consequential matters. Heck the NYTimes betters him on many occasions. How sad. Look Keith, either use that mush between your ears and do your job as watchdog of the government’s corruption, protector of the people or please go find another job.

Olbermann is doing the greatest disservice he can to America. By his talking DOWN to people he is feeding the fodder of Americans on the right, middle and poor left that the new administration is elitists and does not understand their current problems. Elitist do promote neoptism, just look at Hollywood and the non actors that dominate the scene because their dads and mommies were Hollywood people in years gone by.
Circumstances being what they are with the economy (forget health care it is the economy stupid) people want some empathy from their leaders and feel that they understand. Obama’s advisors DO NOT understand this and are alienating the world. It does not help that Olbermann and the Pelosi’s of this world DO look and talk down to Americans as this just flows right over to the outlook on their president. I had so much hope for this gifted speaker of a new president but he is quickly wasting his politcal capital. His supporters are burning it quicker than his constant TV appearances are. Bad choices for advisors have doomed this president I hope he takes control very soon he does have an ability to lead not push.

It is remarkable to see the critisism directed at KEITH. As someone before me has pointed out he backs up everything with facts, times, in short everything pertinent to what he is saying or reporting or claiming. The argument of NYTimes bettering should be questioned by remembering that it was their reporter who was trumpeting crooked dicks war cries. Let’s not forget that. Besides Keith has always been very consistent and has a self deprecating humor and is someone very comfortable in his own skin who is never afraid of self mocking. I tend to trust folks who can do that.
Also Rachels a far cry from Keith. She is incredibly studious about facts, has amazing research capability and will. Something most alleged reporters never have the balls to investigate. Her small segment where she often reports the underthe radar information is reason enough to realize that you are watching and hearing an intellectual person.
She does not claim to imitate Keith’sbulldog image. Rather makes her very well articulated comments with slight humor and politeness which is not present in other commentator/talk show hosts.
Both of them do not spew any hatred, or venom. Keith is one who simply gives the monkeys of Faux news and alike a dose of their own medicine. Because folks like me need a little bravura from the left, wehich is sorely lacking (see Harry Reid-the afraid to even whisper senator- from Nevada.)
Before critisizing these two well educated people you have to look at who their so called counterpart shills are. I strongly doubt that they possess any intellectual capasity, they are “talking point mouth pieces” making 24/7 incoherent laughable and juvenile claims never hesitating to lie. Sadly though larger and larger uneducated or incurious masses are follwing these harmful elements hook line and sinker.
Keith and Rachel are folks we do not have much of and are sorely needed to stabilize the void of truly informing sources.
We still have a a very violent and antidemocratic leaning population out there. Certainly they too can be critisized at times but their alternatives are quite detrimental and influential people. That should be the disturbing factor here. Not Keith’s personal life or who he bangs or such childish and irrelevant innuendo.

Journalism is reporting facts. not pontificating on one’s own lofty views; that’s what the editorial page is for. We have way too many commentators and not enough journalists. Instead of getting the facts, we get angry people spewing vitriol about other people. Evertbody is taking sides, instead of using common sense and fairness; everybody is ready for a fistfight. Its no secret why we can’t make sense of the news; its so skewered to meet the standards of one party or the other. America is no longer a place where common sense and decency reign among the common folk and it looks more like if you don’t like Obama, the click of the SS boot heels may sound putside your door, just before it gets kicked in. I remember a kinder America, but it has disappeared. We don’t need more “bravura,” we need to return to our roots where reporters like Walter Cronkite and Walter Winchell reigned supreme. Olbnerman’s kindergarten paper-propelling-in-disgust tantrums at some unseen adversary doesn’t prove the supposed genius with which he has been attributed, and it doesn’t make the item being verbalized true. He’s more like a spoiled, narcissistic, egotistic, selfish playground bully. One of these days he’s going to get knocked on his ass for being so cocky.

Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Glen Beck and Bill O’Reilly are NEWS COMMENTATORS.
Their purpose is to get people to think about what they report.
They aren’t news anchors on the five o’clock and ten o’clock news.
They share the bias their employers share. It’s show business!
