U.S. House Shows Flair For Uselessness
The approval rating of George W. Bush is a (presidential record-low) 31 percent, with 66 percent disapproving of his performance and the rest undecided. How you can be undecided is beyond us, but regardless, 31 percent is abysmal.
U.S. Congress? WORSE at 22 percent approval / 70 percent disapproval!
There are many reasons for this - love him or hate him, Bush actually does stuff most people notice - but Congress’ perception as the government body that accomplishes little seems to be the prevailing wisdom.
A speech made yesterday by Rep. Sue Myrick on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives certainly does little to change that image.
Myrick’s speech honored one of her constituents … wrestling great Ric Flair. Which is all good, if he’s a good guy. But really? There’s nothing better to do?
Maybe this was done on lunch break or something. But we doubt it.
Some excerpts from this moving address …
“Ric Flair’s wrestling career of 36 years, in which he entertained millions around the world, recently came to a close. He will forever be known as an innovator, a pioneer, and perhaps the greatest that his industry has ever seen.

By any standard, Ric Flair is a living legend. His name is recognized all over the world, but he calls Charlotte, North Carolina home. On his way to being named a record 16-time world champion, Ric Flair became famous for his bleached blond hair, designer suits, and charismatic on-stage persona, while dishing out his trademark chops-and of course, the dreaded Figure Four Leglock.”
You may watch for yourself below. Don’t feel inclined, we just wanted to prove we didn’t make this up. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.
