Chelsea Victoria Clinton is the daughter and only child of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and 2008 candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton.
She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Chelsea's name was inspired by her parents' fondness for Judy Collins's recording of the Joni Mitchell song "Chelsea Morning."
In Arkansas, Chelsea Clinton attended Forest Park Elementary School, Booker Arts and Science Magnet Elementary School and Horace Mann Junior High School. In Washington, she attended Sidwell Friends School.
She received her undergraduate degree in history from Stanford University and a graduate degree from Oxford. Chelsea Clinton has made few public comments on her upbringing and has stayed free of the limelight for the most part until her mother's campaign for the White House, where she has taken on a more active and public role.
Since 2005, Chelsea has lived in the mid-Manhattan area of (yes) Chelsea. The neighborhood just north, Hell's Kitchen, has been referred to as "Clinton" by real estate agents. She serves on the board of the School of American Ballet. She has also served as co-chairwoman of a fund-raising week and for her father’s Clinton Foundation.
Chelsea has worked at Avenue Capital, a hedge fund run by Marc Lasry, a loyal donor and heavy supporter of the Clintons.
She recently came under fire in March 2008 for her response to a question about Hillary Clinton and credibility in the wake of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. She replied to the questioner, during a campaign stop in Indiana, that it was none of people's business.
