Sally Kern was born in Jonesboro, Ark., and likes in Oklahoma City. She is a graduate of the University of Texas and East Texas State University and is married to Dr. Steve Kern, pastor of Olivet Baptist Church.
She is a current member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and a ranking member of its Social Services, Education and Human Services Committees.
Sally Kern was behind the push to ban tolerance promoting books from the state's libraries in 2005, and made inflammatory remarks about gays - the most grave threat to our society, a dangerous lifestyle, etc. - in 2008, leading to widespread criticism.
Smart woman. Fortunately, term limits will kick Sally Kern out of office by 2016 at the latest.
Kern also made headlines for authoring a bill, which recently passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives, mandating that students who believe in creationism still receive passing grades in Earth science classes.
