Chelsea Clinton Hits Campaign Trail with Rudy

No, not Rudy Guiliani. Don’t worry.

The Pennsylvania primary is now less than a week away and camp Clinton is pulling out all the stops. Chelsea Clinton is in the midst of a three-day tour campaigning for her mother, Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Just don’t bring up the L-word.

Joining Chelsea on her campaign tour is actor Sean Astin, who played the title role in Rudy and Samwise in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Rudy supporting Hillary? That can’t be good for Barack Obama. We’ll keep remaining ourselves Astin also starred with Pauly Shore in Encino Man.

On Wednesday, she plans stops in Lancaster and Allentown, Pa., before joining her mother in Philadelphia for a debate between the two candidates.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Supports Chelsea Clinton

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, known for her insane conservative stances on some issues, surprised her View co-hosts and fans by revealing not only her support for Chelsea Clinton, but a “voicemail relationship” with the ex-president’s daughter.

Hasselbeck’s news came as the group discussed a clip in which Chelsea, on the campaign trail for White House hopeful Hillary Clinton in Indiana.

Chelsea responded to a reporter’s query as to whether she thought her mom’s credibility was damaged because of the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Chelsea Clinton responded to the inquiry at Butler University, “Wow. You’re the first person actually that’s ever asked me that question… in the maybe 70 college campuses I’ve now been to. And I do not think that’s any of your business.”

At first, Hasselbeck opined, “It’s a great question.”

But she then added, “I certainly have not agreed with Senator Clinton on her policies… but seeing [Chelsea Clinton] handle that, I felt for her.”

Hasselbeck then shared how she left a voicemail for Chelsea, explaining to the View studio and television audience that “I wanted her to know from my mouth directly that I respect how she handled that with not just wit but dignity.”

Chelsea Clinton Bristles at L-Word

Chelsea Clinton was startled by a question about Monica Lewinsky at the end of a Q&A session during a trip to Butler University Tuesday.

A student at the Indiana college asked whether Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s credibility was damaged during the Monica Lewinsky scandal of 1998.

“Wow, you’re the first person actually that’s ever asked me that question in the, I don’t know maybe, 70 college campuses I’ve now been to, and I do not think that is any of your business,” Chelsea Clinton responded.

The reaction garnered applause from the crowd at the campaign event, and Clinton, who was on her way out, took another question before exiting the stage.

It’s hard to criticize Chelsea Clinton, who we legitimately feel bad for in having to endure the scandal in the first place and face such questions 10 years after.

Yet we can’t help but be a little surprised, given how active she’s been in support of her mom’s candidacy, that this is the first time it’s happened on the trail.

Here’s an AP report detailing the incident

Happy Birthday, Chelsea Clinton!

The youngest member of the Democrats’ last First Family turns 28 today, and Donkey Dish would like to wish Chelsea Clinton a happy birthday!

The former - and possibly future - First Daughter has certainly come a long way since the early ’90s, when she spent every human’s most dreadful years - early teenage-hood - in the grandeur of the White House.

Two college degrees and several high-powered jobs later, Chelsea Clinton has become an exceptional young woman - and in the 2008 campaign, a prominent fixture in her mother’s bid for the White House.

Chelsea Watches Hillary

Chelsea Clinton watches her mother, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, at her debate in Cleveland with Illinois Sen. Barack Obama last night.

Chelsea Clinton Comment May Cost MSNBC Debate

A comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor may nix Hillary Rodham Clinton’s participation in debates on the network.

MSNBC’s David Shuster suggested the Clintons have “pimped out” Chelsea, 27, by having her place phone calls to celebrities and Democratic Party “superdelegates” on her mother’s behalf.

Chelsea, who was kept out of the limelight for years by her famous parents, has been a campaign mainstay in Hillary’s White House bid.

Clinton communications director David Wolfson called David Shuster’s comment “beneath contempt” and disgusting.

“I, at this point, can’t envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network,” he added.

Shuster, who apologized on the air for his Chelsea Clinton comment, has been suspended from appearing on all NBC news broadcasts.

Chelsea Clinton has been active in mom Hillary’s campaign.

Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled to participate in an MSNBC debate February 26 from Ohio, which holds its primary March 4.

Trailing Obama in fundraising, Clinton campaign has pushed hard for as many debates as possible, but February 26 is now uncertain.

Bill Burton, a spokesman for Barack Obama, called Shuster’s comments “deplorable” and said they had no place in the political process.

Unlike delegates pledged to candidates based on primary and caucus results, superdelegates are elected officials and other members of the Democratic National Committee who vote at the party’s convention.

In a process that seems remarkably undemocratic, they may play a key role in selecting the Democratic nominee if the delegate contest between Clinton and Barack Obama remains this close.

Presenting the New, Improved Chelsea Clinton!

It’s not just two Clintons that rival Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama now must contend with on the campaign trail.

Hillary and Bill Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, 27, is now taking a much more vocal and prominent role in her mom’s bid for the White House.

While Chelsea Clinton has not talked to reporters, the campaign has allowed her to stump for Hillary at length. She also appears by her mother’s side at speeches and rallies, and takes questions from the audience.

Chelsea Clinton

Bill Clinton could dial it down a bit… but give us more Chelsea!

We just want to know: When did Chelsea Clinton get so cute? Sorry if you were looking for a serious policy discussion here - and we respect what she’s doing for Hillary’s campaign - but really, who did this makeover? Were her teen years just the most awkward in human history? What gives!
